Indian Harbour Beach Police

I recently visited our new amazing Police Department headquarters to meet Chief Dave Butler and tour the facility.
The building, which Chief Butler helped design, is state-of-the-art, planned to avoid the obsolescence that hinders so many public service headquarters offices.
Attention to detail is apparent throughout this incredibly clean center, which can be self-sustained in case of a weather emergency.
I was particularly impressed with the conference room that can be pre-booked for use by the community. There is a drop-off box for old prescription drugs available during business hours and a specially designated "eCommerce" parking area outside of the front door on the South Patrick
side. There you can meet people to sell items you have advertised online in a safe place!

Security and Safety

Following the Flock: Do FLOCK cameras help or harm?

Gleason Park and the surrounding roads in Indian Harbour Beach have recently seen the installation of advanced flock cameras, a state-of-the-art surveillance technology aimed at enhancing safety and security within the community.Three were authorized by City Council for installation in Gleason Park and the Beach parks, purchased in January, 2024. City Manager John Coffey signed a proposal last March to install two License Plate Readers and eight further security cameras at Algonquin Sports Complex. This was approved by City Council as part of the fiscal year 2026 budget process.

Controversial? Yes. Complaints have been received, and I personally have been getting many emails since announcing my candidacy. I have spoken to police officers and seen the online 'mis-use' videos as well. Do they save toddlers and the elderly from potential harm? Or do they steal whatever privacy we have left?

Governor Ron DeSantis evaluated the complaints and on AUGUST 31, 2026 ordered removal of all FDOT Flock cameras throughout the State of Florida. They will not be used at this time and there are no plans at this time to use them in the future.

Indian Harbour Beach does have cameras at Gleason Park and our Beach areas.

FDOT has removed them on all state roads...
